Urgent Repairs Ordered for Telangana’s Singur Dam
The National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) has issued a critical directive to the Telangana government, urging immediate repairs and rehabilitation work on the Singur Project. A recent inspection revealed severe structural deficiencies, including disturbed revetment, longitudinal cracks, and a tilted parapet wall, indicating a “high-risk condition” for the vital water resource project. With other significant downstream projects like Manjeera Barrage and Nizamsagar Dam, the safety of Singur Dam is deemed paramount, and an action plan has been sought by August 21 to address the alarming findings.
