Environment and Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre has revealed a grim statistic in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly: wild elephants have been responsible for the deaths of 97 people across the state over the past three years. The minister further stated that the government has disbursed ₹13.65 crore in compensation to the victims’ families, underscoring the severe and ongoing challenge posed by human-wildlife conflict in Karnataka.
