Uttarakhand Cabinet Passes Key Bills: Agniveer Quota, Stricter Anti-Conversion Law Approved

In a significant move, the Uttarakhand Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has approved two pivotal proposals. The first grants a 10 percent horizontal reservation for former Agniveers in direct recruitment for Group ‘C’ government services, offering exemptions in physical efficiency tests and age relaxation. [8] Concurrently, the Cabinet also sanctioned the Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Bill, introducing more stringent provisions to combat illegal religious conversions, including harsh penalties and a ban on digital promotion of conversions.
